Born in the province of Biscay, Jaime is a 52 year-old lawyer. In 1976-77 he worked in the insurance sector in London. From 78 to 80 he worked in Bilbao in the insurance, financial and industrial sectors. In the early 1980s he moved to Madrid to embark on a project in the insurance sector, creating the brokerage S&C. He is currently Chairman of Willis for Spain and Portugal. His ties with the publishing world began in the Eighties, through Actualidad Económica and Telva, along with the purchase of the sports newspaper Marca and the launch of the newspaper Expansión in 1986, on which he was a board member. In the early Nineties he was appointed Vice-Chairman of the Recoletos Group, born out of the fusion of several publishing companies. In 1998 he was appointed Executive Chairman of the Group. He is a member of several foundations, such as the FAD, Empresa y Sociedad and DMR Consulting.
