1. CONSTITUTION AND OBJECTIVES
The School (www.ucm.es/business) has been set up principally for purposes of the analysis, research and teaching of the current situation and future perspectives for Internet Business Administration from all relevant aspects. The School is part of the Faculty of Economics and Business Science (http://www.ucm.es/info/cee) at Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM).
The Universidad Complutense de Madrid (www.ucm.es) and the DMR Consulting Foundation (www.fundaciondmr.org) agree on the particular importance and strategic relevance of Internet Business Administration, a field which has already been included in teaching and research work undertaken by a number of university institutions in other countries. For this reason both the UCM and the DMR Consulting Foundation consider that the creation of this School offers a firm guarantee for the inclusion of these studies in Spain, ensuring fluent two-way communication between academic work and business, and with social and economic implications.
Consequently, on 11 February 2001, an agreement was signed by Rafael Puyol Antolín, Vice-chancellor of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and Fernando Francés Pons, Chairman of DMR Consulting for the creation of this School. The agreement was ratified on 19 April of the same year.
2. ORGANISATION. JOINT COMMITTEE
The Joint Committee is made up of two representatives appointed by UCM’s Vice-chancellor: Juan Luis Paniagua Soto (Head of Institutional Relations at the UCM) and Álvaro Cuervo García (Head of the Department of Business Organisation at the UCM), plus a further two representatives from DMR Consulting: Pelayo Villanueva García, Managing Director, and Ricardo Penalva López, Assistant Managing Director.
The Joint Committee will be responsible for approving, monitoring and controlling the School’s programme of activities. It will also approve the budget and will put forward the names of candidates for the post of Chair Director and Co-ordinator, to be appointed by the Vice-chancellor.
On 6 March, and at the proposal of the Joint Committee, the Vice-chancellor appointed Professor Dr. José Ignacio López Sánchez and Professor Francesco D. Sandulli to the respective posts of School Director and Co-ordinator.
